Many Utah State Parks have showers, water and dump available at a very reasonable cost. Generally clean and comfortable.

We find that most State parks have very good showers. If we were going to boondock frequently that's what we would choose. Another good option is a. Heap hotel for the night.

So, have you ever seen people swimming in lakes and rivers? What would be the difference?
If it has been a day since a shower, your body residue will contaminate the lake, if you call it bathing.
But, if a day since a shower, and you are swimming, there is no problem?
I really doubt that a couple people swimming in a river contaminate it with their body residue!

Some would have us wear body suits.

They do. Read any Leave No Trace camping guide for references. I can show places you where entering the water is good for a ticket and fine. OTOH the usual differentiation is whether or not soap is involved.

You could also purchase the portable shower , a bag that hangs outside in the sun getting warm for you at the end of your day. Do you ever read the Wynns boondocking tutorials? they are really good.

That's what we try to do too. Haven't ever used the truck stop showers but that's an option also. Seems like I say they wanted $5 each though. Time to shower with a friend (or wife maybe)!

If there is a will, there is a way. Have you ever taken a helmet shower outdoors? You can wear a bathing suit if you do not have privacy. Part of water conservation. Fill your helmet or bucket with water and bath out of it. You can dump the water and refill with clean water and rinse. Outdoor water faucets to include RV exterior showers work well when you do not want to fill your grey tank. Great way to bath pets too.

Hi Vince,
I have pretty limited experience but have been developing and testing a 'plan' in preparation to go full time. I have huge tanks and it is just me so I can go a long time but eventually have the same problem. I've found the travel plaza's in the southwest to be pretty good and allow a dump and water fill for $10 (give or take). The better option, in my 'plan', is a one night stay at a campground or state park (full hookup). For this fee ($25-$35), I can take a good long hot shower (in my shower), do my laundry (onboard w/d), dump and fill tanks, run my vacuum, and do several hours of meal preparation (convection oven - hate it for boondocking).
Most of the state parks in New Mexico have showers at the campgrounds. I've never used them but am told they are pretty clean.
