By boondocking do you mean a nite or two or are you talking about spending a couple of weeks there? If it's just overnight you should be able to. Always call ahead to see if you can overnight there. Some cities have ordinances that prevent you from staying there.

I had a 5th wheel and we would stay overnight when on the move. We pulled in around 10 pm and hit the road by 7 am.
Now we own a pop up! Can we use a pop up to do the same thing? We have to pull the beds out ,raise the roof.

I would guess you could, but don't set up lawn chairs and get the grill out, just what you need to crash until morning.

Wal Mart welcomes RVers. If you are going to stop at one call ahead as some towns have ordinances that would preent you even though the Wal Mart would allow it. The store manager will be able to answer your request.

I just saw a You-Tube video on Wal-mart camping rules and they indicated that pop ups were not a good idea at Wal-Mart.

We have been on the road for two weeks now and we have not needed to pull into a Wal Mart. I would rather help the RV parks keep open. We have noticed RV population has been down and the owners need out help. I have spent the night last year but I see things looking a little low. We have made the choice to stay in a campground. Thank you everyone.

A lot of folks think camping is over after Labor Day, so I am not surprised you see fewer campers. But my experience is that it is still a good idea to have reservations for actual camping before Labor Day. I will only use Wal-Mart when traveling to a remote location and just want to rest before continuing on my way. I found a WalMart Overnight Stay app that was free and it indicated a lot of WalMarts do not allow overnights. Then I found Walmart ONP by AllStays for $2.99 and you get what you pay for. Some of the WalMarts that said no overnight in the first app were updated by recent travelers in the paid app and indicated more overnight parking than the first.

I think a popup is pushing it a little, but if I had to, I would expect forgiveness would be easier to get than permission.

My opinion that's a little much.
