And then he switched back to the Champion 3100 because it ran his AC better than the Honda 3000, but the Honda was quieter. However, the Champion was quieter than two Honda 2000 units running in parallel. So this guy spends major bucks testing and ends up with the Champion.

And as far as hard starts when hot are concerned , that's a good indication that a valve adjustment is required. 30 mins of maintenance. Could also be vapour lock, closing the fuel valve could confirm that.

I didnt even consider the altitude conditions. Ill be camping at 8,200 ft next week. I guess I should contact honda about rejetting my two 2000s??

I would. Even the Hondas get a little iffy above 7000 feet from what I've read.

just disconnect the electric leads on shutoff switch and tape them up for future reattach. Youtube videos show you if you need visuals. Then your shut off switch is a fuel shut off and run it dry every time.

Have you checked Harbor Freight Tools? They carry a lot of off brand generators including some electric start models and our usually much cheaper than anyone else. I saw a 5000 watt unit for about $600 bucks there a couple of weeks ago. It looked liked a really solid generator.

Only about half of anything I've bought from Harbor Freight has worked past the first time. The Yamaha powered Smart Tools 2000iQ from Costco is no risk with their great return policy.

I have bought a good bit from Harbor Frt., and realize you are not buying top of the line quality, but my compressor, welder,drill press and 3/4" socket set (lifetime warrentee ) still working fine after 2 years,and many hand tools. You just have to way the quality to how your going to use it. I got my eye on their inverter generator !!

I'll have to revise what I said about Harbor Freight stuff. Most has been fine from 2 pneumatic nail guns (got the 2nd after the first slid off the roof) and a hydraulic wood splitter. It was the electric impact wrench that I got a few months ago that failed the second time I used it.

I always weigh how i'm going to be using a tool to the quality i need. I got burned on some Harbor Frt driil bit set , supposed to be there higher quality, but there cheap set were much better ???
As far as returns, no questions, if not happy, bring it back, have had no problems with that !

Central Vermont, some day would like to live there !!!!!!

I had to "boondock" in my driveway last night. A storm took the power out for about 6 hours. I just fired up the generator, turned on the A/C and the TV and got dinner started.

First time out with Honda 2000. One gennie ran the whole trailer with no problem at 8200k ft with stock jet. Had to run the companion in order to cool down the trailer in the afternoon.

Just wanted to let everyone know the experience we had with the Honda 2000 over the last week. Several campers in our group had dual setups and one of them lost the parallel cord. Somehow, don't ask, he started and ran his 13.5 ac with it. The other guy was running both units and one ran out of gas. It ran the ac for a little while. Don't ask how, just relaying the experiences that we had on our last trip.

I guess I'm going to have to go to a dealer that sells both and really go over them very closely. Both the Honda and the Yamaha units have so many good things going for them, it's hard to decide. I like that the Hondas with the Companion that has the 30 amp plug can be run independently if you don't need the full capacity of two tied together, the dealer network, the ease of running an external fuel tank, and company reputation. I like the cast iron cylinder and roller bearings of the Yamaha, and both are the right size for me to lift and lug around. Both brands can be had for similar pricing if one shops around.

It's not a really easy decision right now.
