Preliminary Boondocking Report: Dixie National Forest
(Please note: I am having trouble attaching the video and am waiting information from the website manager)
This report will take its form as a video. I hope to add more information in an upcoming post. For now I wanted to give everyone an idea of what it is like here. I am in the Dixie National Forest about 10 miles from the entry to Bryce Nat'l Park. I believe camping here is an excellent alternative to being in the park itself.
As I am new to posting videos to the site I am unsure how this will come through in terms of quality.

The Dixie N.F. is really huge. The section that you are talking about is a beautiful area, Known as Red Canyon.
We had wanted to stay in that camp ground when we were there 2 years ago, but it was early October and they were just closing for the season, so we stayed in Bryce instead.
The quality of your video is fine, but it doesn't do justice to the scenery. The two photos below were taken from the highway, near the campground.
Butch Cassidy grew up in that area, and the Butch Cassidy trail is a very nice 3 or 4 hour hike. There are also several longer trails in the vicinity.

I forgot to mention that the volume on the video is very low.

Looks like Tom's Best Springs Rd. or there abouts. Video fine, but I cannot hear the audio.

I don't know where Tom's Best Springs Rd. is, but this is Utah state highway 12.

Thanks for your comments about the video and the surrounding area, including your photos. I have to take exception to your remark that my video doesn't do justice to the scenery. Your photos show the incredible country that is seen along route 12 in Red Canyon just off Hwy. 89. That's not where I am boondocking, however. I'm a good mile or so off of Hwy. 12 and several miles more from where the rock formations in your photos are found. My video was taken at my camp and shows what it is like... where I am camped. It wasn't intended to show the nearby county. If I wanted to do that I'd have attached some photos of Bryce such as those I'm attaching to this message.The point of the video was not to show the the country miles away from where I'm camped but rather the area immediately surrounding the campsite. The video accomplishes that just fine.

I can hear the audio just fine, that is on my computer. I cannot play the video at all on my iPhone of iPad, however.
Yes, you're right about my location. It's just off Tom's Best Springs Rd.I plan to include more photos, GPS coordinates, etc when I write my full report.

I answered your question. I'm sorry you didn't like the answer provided.
When I write a report I will answer questions raised by it or not addressed in it, but when somebody asks me a question that is answered in the document because then I will refer them to the document. There is little point in going to the considerable effort I did to write a report only to have to answer a bunch of questions from people who aren't willing to read it thereby duplicating an effort I've already made.
