I don't plan a route either and will wait right before we go to decide north or southern route.

I've been to Vegas a lot drove our last motorhome out so been out there in the horrible heat and one year in the horrible cold. However we used to fly out. Just don't really want to get in a blizzard on the way.

I just wanted to make sure I was within the time parameters before I went decided to go out.

My husband is finally getting a flight out to Africa. He was home for Christmas and with the weather had his flight cancelled, we will be heading to Indianapolis about 2 in the morning for him to get out about 6. So get him off for 8 more weeks. That's how I plan a trip 3 to 7 weeks, he! he!

I'll second that. We are first timers to the South West and we're from upstate NY. We love the desert. We are on Plamosa Road at Quartzsite now and will be here until the end of the month. Moving to the LTVA in a couple weeks.

When we lived and worked in CA we were desert rats for years. The desert grows on you. Find an isolated area get a chair and watch the wild life. Pretty awesome little critters out there. Plus so much peace and quiet. We love the desert.

We leave home midweek heading that way again. Went you start down the hill toward Quartzsite you will see your parking spot. Lol. Millions of them. We take 1st exit go south and take first road to the left. Frontage road. We go Maybe three mile just park along the frontage road in the desert.

You will see the big display tent. Across the street from the big tent there a few hundred other venders. Similar to a flea market. Near the big tent there are several acre of new & used RV's for sale. Great Time -- Enjoy. Russell

Ok there some RV Parks that are close to the big tent. We stayed last year on BLM (free) ground. The parks are full hook up I would guess. Another place there that is maybe 3 or 4 blocks from the tent area had lots of space for RV parking. I believe it had electric & maybe water. That same place had a drive thru dump station for a fee and you could get water there too.

We are going to stay longer there this year and try to get into one of the FHU parks. We never get reservations anywhere so we will see when we get there. Plenty of space in the desert. Lol It's for us is well worth the trip.

I don't keep good notes. Best as I remembered we turned south at the first exit. Went maybe 1/2 mile. Big tent was on the right. We went left down the frontage road about 3 mile. Parked there. So 3 mile walk.??? Bicycle might work well ??

That's where we parked 2 years ago. Just off the frontage road was a good place to park with hard surface. We are leaving for Quartzsite Wednesday from Louisiana. 1500 miles. We are going to take it easy only drive 500 miles each day. Abilene, TX Walmart on 15th, Deming, NM Walmart on the 16th, Quartzsite on the 17th. I am planning on stopping at the Flying J in Phoenix to dump and top off with water.

If you see my Hurricane stop by, I'll put a couple Boudin on the grill. If you want to see my 735 Watt solar install, I will be glad to show you.

I arrived in Quartzsite today. I am up in the free 14 day area north of town for now. Sprint signal is good, but data speed (throttled Virgin mobile) is really poor. I will do a speed test down at the LTVA tomorrow and see if it is any better. If not, I may ride out the 14 free days here before paying anything. I ended up having to buy a new alternator the other day, just after paying labor to install new rear shocks.. so my budget has a bit of a hole in it this month.
