In the CC class in AZ they tell you that you can not shoot to wound.

There are a ton of cases where the intruder, or intruders spouse sue the homeowner for the injury they receive while trying to break into the house. It's crazy! Before shooting you may want to ask if they have a good lawyer, or one in the family.....LOL

How about, just don't answer the door, and wait to see what happens? Do criminals actually go out to the middle of nowhere just to see if they can engage in criminal activity? Maybe they are just out there seeing who is actually exercising their 2nd amendment rights.

Several Easters ago, during the middle of the night, some illegals came across the border, which was 1/2 mile away, stole a pick-up, rammed it into a trailer, turning it on it's side and shot it up. This happened within a stones throw from where I was camped.

You didn't know that the intruders safety was your responsibility?

We must all keep our homes neat and tidy on the off chance that someone may break in. We don't want any harm to come to these criminals do we?

I had a business that was smash and grabbed three times. Once two days before my due date with my son. I was terrified to leave the house with my kids, even just to go check on my store. Let's just say carrying a .45 in your diaper bag with a two year old and a newborn is extremely heavy.

I got over it. I realized that not only had these folks taken my livelihood. They had also taken my sanity. I realized these [moderator edit] were running my life through fear. I put the gun away. Focused on my kids and my own happiness.... But also keep a keen eye out for evil. It's everywhere. I refuse to let them win by being paranoid and scared.

I'm just aware now, and try to not put myself in any situation my mind (and .45) can't handle.

Have a plan before it happens
Ours
Turn on all outside lights 911 dialed but button not pushed
Wife talks and would maybe open the door and step back
Me with 12 gage and 44 mag in the stairway not talking.
Guns are always loaded and handy
Come in without knocking your next of kin will be notified

Whats your back up plan after you let the person in and your gun jams or misses the target.

Only two scenarios here, either the people have broken down in their car, and have hiked for miles only to find some RV in the midldle of nowhere. They probably need your help., OR.. some deliverance type vandals out there wanting to make you squeal like a pig.

I think it would be easy enough to tell the difference. I am not a gun person, I really dislike them. Knowing this if I insisted on boon docking out in the middle of nowhere, I would probably keep a shotgun to kill bears, wild animals and the deliverance types. I probably don't see myself out in the middle of nowhere as a habit in my RV.

THAT BEING SAID, I will not put myself in any situation that would require I protect myself with a firearm. I have a friend in Arizona who has a CC permit but wears his gun visibly in a holster. He goes to places that are not anywhere I would go with his firearm visible.

I see many posts on this site that remind me of him, and the things he says. He is my best friend from HS 45 years ago, so I'm still his friend and visit him. I have one rule. I will not go anywhere with him when he wears that gun.

In my case, a 30 pound Jack Russell that will (and has several times) happily take a run at anyone he feels is in the wrong place at the wrong time, crime-wise.

I've seen punks run off pretty fast, way faster than I can anymore, but none the 35'ish mph my dog does.

Certainly not with that dog hanging off their arm or butt cheek.

Good un Dunner !

We had a very smart little pup start sleeping on our front porch during the DFW snow storm (smart because he picked my wife's house to stop at !)

I didn't want him having just put down our 115 lb 12 yr old lab not long ago...
but, of course she took him in...
I said ok, as an outside dog only in our 3/4 acre fenced back yard...
later - ok, he can only come in while we are watching tv at night....
you know the rest of the story...
now our little 65 lb pitt-boxer mix LOVES to RV and is a sweet heart around everyone....
UNTIL you knock on that door

I promise his bark will make you think twice !

Sadie explodes if she hears any noise she's not familiar with and knows the sound of a Brown truck from the back yard. She also knows the sound of the refrigerator door opening from the back yard.
