Maybe if campgrounds along the highway would charge a reasonable rate, say $10-$15 a night for overnight parking (without hookups) instead of $35 to $50, more would utilize their services. I for one am not paying that kind of money for parking for 8 hours with no use of facilities. And it's a matter of principle, not "cheap".
I don't waste money; I worked too hard for what I have to just throw it away.

That is a nasty comment and uncalled for, just my opinion.
When I am going south to the US I like to drive long hours to get there fast to start having fun fast... I really appreciate that I can "stop" at WM for an overnight. If I wanted to spend anymore time than say 7pm and 7-8am I would use a campground. IMO it's abuse if you stay more than overnight (unless you are sick), then it's "camping".
I overnight at WM because I can arrive late and leave early (sometimes leave around 5am) and I don't end up waking people up in the campground.
I always wondered why a comparable alternative does not exist, ie a "overnight park with services" near highways. I would gladly pay $20 bucks for a spot near fellow RV'ers, near the highway (easy in and out).

Amen! Actually some campgrounds use the Passport America program, which I will use over a Walmart or Cracker Barrel if available. They may not be the nicest campgrounds, but they get the job done at a reasonable cost.

Totally uncalled for.... We like some of the other respondents work for a living and do not always have the luxury of lollygagging to our next destination. We typically leave the evening of our last day of work and drive until tired and get a few hours rest. We very much appreciate the hospitality of the business that allow overnighters and always patronize them in return. When campgrounds have 24 hours availability and have hourly rates we will gladly patronize them until then in your words....d%#* it!

I don't care if there were 5,00 cg's. I always use wm for the first 2 nights as it's a great conscience to stock my mh and the second one to pick up anything I forgot.
by your little minds analogy wm should start protesting cg stores that mark things up 80%.
i like being able to choose where i want to stay, think this is called free enterprise, not being cheap and wm is well compensated for offering this

We find this info provided by Wal-Mart very useful.
No Overnight Parking at Walmart | Walmart Atlas

Yeah, yeah, I know, don't read it if you aren't interested. This will be my last visit to this thread.
