What is boondocking
Ok I'm sure for all of you this is the dumbest question ever but I'm reading some threads and trying to figure out what it is exactly? Day two of owning our new to us MH.

Basically boondocking or dry camping is camping off the grid...no hookups.

Boondocking is camping anywhere without any hookups at all.
You can boondock in front of your house...no water, electric nor sewer connections means you are boondocking.

Boondocking and dry camping seem to be used interchangeably, however I like to differentiate between the two. To me you dry camp at a Walmart or your friends driveway. You boondock at BLM and COE land, ie out in the boonies.
Either way it's without any hook ups.

Wally Docking is not Boon Docking. If you are Boon Docking you are in the Boonies. Nat. Forest, BLM, Out Back, etc. I Boon Dock when I deer hunt, I dry camp at the Balloon Fiesta.

No question is dumb, It's called learning, just like we all have been doing and  how about some inside and outside Pictures we all like to see someones else's MH

The expression was introduced by the military in the early years of the 20th century, and in the Philippines. The word is derived from the Tagolog (Filipino language) meaning "Mountain." It evolved to refering to rural areas and mountain areas difficult to access.
Think of a rustic uncivilized area, countryside, wilderness area, and topography does not matter.
When i was in the military we referred going into the field as "The Boondocks," no electricity, no running water faucets (just streams), no sewer except for a hole in the ground. That was really boondocking.
We sure have come a long way.

That's right, and if a person is going to Boondock (RV speak), one must be IN the boondocks.
If you can see a human made structure, or paved roads, more than likely, you are not in the "Boondocks".

Those pictures show a very nice unit, looks showroom new, and you two in the mirror. Enjoy it as much as possible, we only have one grab at the gold ring of life.

Thanks not me in the mirror though that was the photo the seller took. LOL

As you see, there is no general agreement on precisely what is meant by the term. There seems to be a consensus that it is camping without hookups. As far as where you can boondock. it seems to mean whatever you want the word to mean.
