I will run my genny as needed, if semis can idle and run refers, I can run the genny. If we're at a Walmart I'm parked way off, farthest from the door all alone anyway.

No slides, no jacks and no awnings, but I do air level. Which is why I bought the air leveling.

I always put out at least one slide in wally world. You need to be parked out of the way, along an outside edge helps, I would always put out the slide to the outside edge of the parking lot.

Most people who overnight there show up late, leave early.

I absolutely run my genny, and sometimes I would put my jacks down. Caution about doing this if the temp outside is 100 degrees and the lot is asphalt. You'll get a surprise when you pull them up and they are melted in

I try and minimize generator use -- for us, the only thing we need the generator for is a/c, and if it's that hot, I think people understand. For us, since we overnight and dry camp in race paddocks, etc., where we can't always get the slides out, having a coach that really worked well with the slides in was part of our buying process.

We've never stayed at a rest area, etc., for more than a few hours, although, at times, when we've been at events that had the area totally booked, we've returned to the same rest area for a couple of nights.

If your plans include touring the area, staying for more than one night, or necessitate conduct not within the code, please relocate to a local campground. It’s the right thing to do!

Yes stay only one night. I check the Walmart Do not park list you can find it with a google search so you can avoid Walmarts that do not allow parking. I have put out one slide if I can find a curb towards an open field etc. I do use the generator for a short time if i need it if I am away from other folks. I never use jacks or put out chairs. I have overnighted at dozens of walmarts never a problem.

X2. I sometimes run my generator and roof air while driving in very hot temperatures. If we stop to shop at a Walmart, the genny and A/C continue to run.

While I've never used my generator.. I would if the need arose... I have a gen-turi and would be mindful of my surrounding area..

I just figured since it always seems like it's my luck to be next to the trucker who is running his Thermo-King, me running my generator wouldn't be such a big deal.. especially with the gen-turi to make sure none of the fumes bother another RV'er...

Since I have to put out at least ONE slide (Bed OR wardrobe..Bed is best) I try to pick a parking spot where the slide will go out over a grass area,not another parking spot. when parking-lot-docking.

And put out JUST that slide IF i can park with the wardrobe over grass I may put out the main slide (Same side) as well but then it is tight moving around the bed.

NO chairs or awnings or anything else that sits on the ground. I wish to make it clear I'm moving on ASAP in the AM.

As mentioned above and as a Walmart District Manager told me personally, they understand that sometimes RV'ers have to extend a slide out. He stated that as long as we park where the slide out will extend over a non-traffic area (read grassy), it is permissible.

Although I have never stayed overnight at Walmart nor asked permission, we recently had a very unpleasant Walmart experience. After parking the coach out of the way, halfway out on the lot, and walking to the store to make the purchases, I recently had a very unpleasant Walmart experience. In mid-day, a security person, with yellow light flashing, knocked on the door and shouted "No Camping!" As I was in the checkout line my cell phone rang from the call by the DW in the coach to advise. I left the cart complete with the ice cream sitting in the aisle and advised the in store Walmart person on the way out of the store to put it back, as we had been ordered out of the lot. We found another store nearby and I am sure Walmart will do just fine without me.

Putting your slide out in a walmart over the grass would certainly not be cause for the city to come with pitch forks and demand the government stop overnight parking in the city - I have a feelings it's more political than that, and I have a feeling that "campgrounds" truly enjoy "no overnight parking" policies.... and If I were an association of park owners in arizona, I would ESPECIALLY like this law...

But of course most communities cite things like "We like to control random vehicles that could possibly houses transients, criminals and gangs.. blah blhablblahh "

Buy some deli food from your generous host who allowed you to stay on their property for free.

Did you seek out the manager and ask about the rude behavior of the security guard? I would have. I think there must be something missing to this story.
