Will this inverter/charger work for me?

I found this inverter/charger on craigslist from a lady who found it left behind in a home she purchased. It is a Vanner/Charles IQC12-2600, but it looks like it was built for more of a marine/commercial use. I have the option of purchasing it for a few hundred dollars, but I don't know it would work for a RV/trailer application. Its a 2600 watt inverter/charger, but the manual says the bulk charge on it is 14.4 volts.

Here is the manual for it online:
http://www.vanner.com/wp-content/upl...-IQ12-2600.pdf

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Lead acid batteries need a bulk and absorption charging rate of 14.8 volts at 80 degrees F to get fully charged. Unfortunately most chargers or inverter/chargers do not do this.

Looks to me like the 2.6Kw quasi-sine wave inverter is worth the $'s
As far as a battery charger 14.4Vdc will work fine just take a bit more time
What kind and how many batteries do you have?
Didn't look closely at the specifications regarding efficiently might want to consider a switchable circuit breaker on the input to totally cut power when not in use

Provided the inverter is in good working order, buy it. According to the specs the charge voltage is adjustable so the 14.4V isn't an issue.

Quote:
Inverter OFF 60 ma 60 ma
Inverter ON in Load Demand Mode 160 ma 160 ma
Inverter ON - Load Demand OFF 1.8 amps
It draws 60mils OFF and 160mils in standby, that's not bad.

I would definitely test it before you give her any money. I can't imagine anyone "forgetting" to take it with them, unless they didn't know what it was.
