Me? I wouldn't park close to you in that case. We wouldn't be close enough to even think we needed to introduce ourselves.

But that isn't what happened to me this week. And I'm not willing to play the "move the goalposts" game to go through every single situation possible to find out if I'm being reasonable or not, because I am. I haven't told anyone not to use their gennie, only commented on it's volume and noise, and made suggestions on how to use it less, like using propane to heat water (cheaper than gasoline here and more efficient for heating water than using an IC engine to make electricity to heat water).

Nice try, though.

It's stuff like this that causes nearly all conversations here to degrade to uselessness. Do you really think that this thread has anything to do with who is first? Do you think because you are in an area first you have the right to piss everywhere and screw everyone else? The thread has nothing to do with that and everything to do with people being inconsiderate of others. Public land is implied (Quartsite) and that means we all own it. I suspect you (Bud) are a considerate person and, given your coach, have a reasonably quiet generator. Nobody is complaining about you unless you run it all day/night when it is not needed (a 100 degree heat wave would be an exception, obviously). Even if you run it as little as possible, it will still annoy me. That is not an insult to you, just the way it is and the reason I am such a huge advocate of solar.

I don't think the conversations get degraded when people don't think like you. People taking in their own campsite, come on. No one know why I run my generator but me. I would never come in and park beside some one and run my generator, but if you park be side me and it's running its your fault for parking there. IMO it's like people moving to the country and complaining about the cows smelling.

Bud, that isn't what happened to me, and I've made that clear. Feel free to start your own topic on a different line of thinking about this if you like.

I apologize for making a comment in jest without a smiley face. I hate it when people do that. I already said that I park as far from people as I can get. Nuff said from me.

I try very hard in everything I do not to annoy others, but don't expect the same in return. There's no right in the Constitution to not be annoyed. I learned at an early age that there's generally no point talking to the inconsiderate, as they are generally selfish in their view of life.

If you're boondocking, remember your neighbor has the same freedoms as you. If you demand quiet, go pay for a campground with security that enforces the rules. Just don't complain when the rules get enforced for you too.

The idea of freedom was never a part of this topic/discussion. I never once suggested that folks not have the ability to camp in a free area or to run their generators. If you believe I have, please point specifically to where I said that.

I specifically mentioned being a good neighbor. Freedom is another topic. And in this discussion, it is off topic, since the BLM has rules to follow on their managed lands. No freedom here, not in the literal sense of the word. It has clearly been, at least in some places that cold be argued about, curtailed for various reasons.

1bigness, I wasn't referring to you in any post I made. In other topics people pull in, set up and then start to complain about from lights to the kids there. There have been time I have observed things I didn't like but didn't complain and say they have no right to do those things, but do it my way. Once again 1fitness I not talking about you but complaining in general. Oh, I like this topic also.

I agree. Loud generators in te middle of the day probably are obnoxious. I'm rarely at my RV in the middle of the day so I wouldn't notice. Too busy , hiking, fly fishing, or exploring the area. How about 8 AM or 8 PM? Is that off limits too?

I fired up my gennie at almost exactly 8am after seeing my neighbors up and moving around. I shut my gennie off at 8pm last night.

I'm going to go talk to some folks about a suitcase solar panel set up and a deep cycle AGM battery mainly for radio use, but it can also charge the house batteries, too. I'll use in inverter off the AGM deep cycle battery to run the computer, the radios are made to run on 12v. I'm already thinking about the gas money I'll be saving.

Do the generators around cause noise on HF?

No, and that is something I was surprised to discover. I don't hear any noise that I believe I can attribute to generators running.
