Engine light on, no codes

Hi, I have a 2003 Holiday Rambler Admiral on a Workhorse chassis. The 'Service Engine Soon' light bounces from blinking to being solid, both with no error codes showing on the computer. It drives fine with no issues. I had 2 potential buyers scared off because of the light. Went to two separate mechanics, both no codes and no idea on how to fix this.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm not sure about the Workhorse chassis dash warning system , but do you have a separate " oil change reminder light " or warning in a digital display .

Just asking , because " Service Engine Soon " sounds more like an oil change reminder than a " Check Engine " light that; when flashing in particular; would definitely set codes.

Sounds like a short in the light circuit. Ground issue?

Turn the ignition switch to the on position but don't start.

Press the accelerator to the floor three times within about five seconds.

Turn off the ignition.

That is how you clear the oil change reminder. I don't know if that's your problem but it can't hurt to try it.

This is how it is done on my Honda CRV:
  1. Turn the ignition to the “II” position by turning the key.
  2. Turn the ignition to the “OFF” position, then push and hold in the Odometer “Reset/Trip” button.
  3. Continue to hold the Odometer “Reset/Trip” button wile turning the ignition back to the “II” position.
Maybe something this might work?

Mine is a Ford GAS, but my book says if SES light is FLASHING, shut down immediately or risk transmission damage. If trans overheating? Is Trans wiring rodent or road hazard damaged? Is Trans fluid OK, color and level?

Have the spark plug wires ever been changed? Might be getting misfires.

(From what I read) about the more expensive code readers, the diff is that they will read codes for AIR BAGS, ABS, and a few other non-engine accessories? SUSPICION is that they are non-engine codes that your cheaper reader cannot read, and you need a Dealer/ good Truck shop w/ the better equipment? LUCK to ya :-)

Thanks all. It was an knock sensor that didn't throw a code. I had been to a couple of mechanics with good code machines. They found it by accident
