HORSEPOWER

Nearly 100 coaches participated in what was by far the largest Workhorse Chassis Motorhome Club rally to date — held at the Ocean Lakes Family Campground in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Oct. 6 to 10. The weather proved breezy but mostly delightful at the beautiful campground right off the Atlantic coast beach.

Dinners and evening entertainment sponsored by Workhorse and other RV-related companies provided some of the most enjoyable highlights, including Elvis and Marilyn Monroe impersonators, music from the "Big Bam Boom" trio and "Music on the Strand," and a TV music trivia game. A late-morning "Jasmine Dreams Tea Room" tea party for the ladies also drew a big crowd, as did a wine and cheese social on the beach observation deck.

Fourteen seminars also provided a wealth of RV-related information, including details about the new Workhorse W16D front engine diesel chassis, Workhorse service and maintenance, Allison transmissions, and Michelin tires. It looked like everybody got their questions answered while seeing some of the newest products on the RV market. Thirteen vendors participated and sold merchandise or services.

An electric motor scooter and a set of aluminum wheels were some of the prizes handed out. Club members even managed to raise funds for charity as a 50/50 raffle netted $402 for the Special Olympics.

Members were also able to take advantage of some of the many first-class golf courses nearby, and the inaugural John S. Margalski Memorial Golf Tournament was held at the Prestwick Country Club. John Margalski was the Workhorse vice president of RV sales who passed away last spring. He frequently attended club rallies and was well known and well liked by many Workhorse owners.

A big thanks to rally masters and hosts Mike and Colleen Pelchat and all the companies and individuals who made this a truly grand time together. It just leaves us eagerly waiting for the next one!

Next Rally

The next rally of the Workhorse Chassis Motorhome Club will be the Bakersfield Western Roundup at the Bakersfield RV Resort in Bakersfield, Calif., March 9-12, 2009. Go to wcmc.workhorse.com for information about the rally and the Workhorse owners club.

We need to put up all the photos we can on the Club's Webpage so that we can have a photo history of the event. Addresses on request.

Thank you for the offer!

PS: If anyone else has pictures please consider forwarding those for archival purposes on the WCMC.Workhorse.com website. We need "all" the pictures we can get.

I believe everyone had a great time. What a wonderful place to have a rally. I wish I was there right now instead of here.
