depchief & AZHusker: just to clear up any potential confusion.......

The club's $10.00 INITIATION fee was waived for those new members who joined WCMC in response to an "open invitation" issued for the Myrtle Beach rally in 2008. WCMC collected only the $15.00 annual dues from those new members who joined upon arrival at that rally.

There are no plans to waive any membership fees and there is no registration fee for attending a WCMC rally. Only the RALLY FEE as stated on the rally registration form is required, in addition to a valid membership in both WCMC and FMCA.

Also, the the club website is: www.wcmc.workhorse.com and there is lots of info there, plus links to everything a potential member will need.

Got our news letter today! We are planning to leave FL in two weeks for a trip and will try to be back for this Rally. Good location.

After much deliberation and consideration the following dates and location are proposed and have been tentatively booked. The Rally is proposed to begin on Tuesday October 5th, 2010 with the departure being on Saturday October 9th, 2010. Early arrivals are being accepted and those needing those arrangements should contact the campground directly.

The rally is scheduled to be held on the beautiful Cape Hatteras National Seashore at the Camp Hatteras RV Resort and Campground.

Please refer to the Camp Hatteras Site Map.

We have reserved the entire Pamlico Sound area (West of Highway 12) of the campground and there are 91 sites available. There are several dozen overflow sites available on the Atlantic Ocean side as well.

There is a 3000 square feet Conference Center for us to use exclusively which has kitchen facilities.

The amenities of the facility are too numerous for me to list here however one can find out that information by accessing the website.

Some of the highlights in the local area:
· The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse
· Wright Brothers Museum and Kitty Hawk
· Deep Sea Fishing
· The Charles Kuralt Trail
· Ocracoke Island
· 4 Wheel Off Road Driving on the Seashore
· Sail Boarding
· Historical Shipwrecks
Including many more small shops and dining experiences.

We are already signing up outside vendors.

I believe that OBX will be a fun and exciting area in which to hold the club rally in the fall of 2010..

Respectfully submitted,

for Derrick Parker

My wife and I spent a month on the Outer Banks last summer. It is a very beautiful place. There are so many places to visit. It is indeed a very historical place. Our favorite thing to see was the beautiful tall dunes along hwy 12. They have been doing a lot of dredging out there and replacing the dunes on the ocean side because every year parts of the dunes are washed out by the storms. The dunes along the road look like sand sculptures due to the various colors of the sand they have dredged up. At one point there is a huge pipe running along the beach and you can hear the sand and shells going through the pipe from the dredge miles away. It is a constant battle to keep the road from washing away as erosion takes it's toll. I fear that some day the only way to access anything south of Kill Devil Hills will be by ferry.

Did Earl do any damage to the campground? Are all systems "go" for the rally? I havent seen much info lately, but I'm looking forward to a good time and seeing old friends.

davebuck, I have not heard anything about the campground being damaged from the hurricane. These folks out on Hatteras recover pretty quickly in these types of events.

There isn't anything on their website and facebook seems to be clear of any negative comments.
