Lots of good information for free on this site:
http://vets.yuku.com/

I've used this site for years and have never been given bum scoop. I'm not qualified to discuss SSA issues, but someone on the Vet's Benefits Network might be able to help.

How can I help? I can tell you that I am retired from working with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) for 17 years and my last assignment was as Assistant National Service Director in Washington, DC at our National Service & Legislative Headquarters. So, if I can't answer the question, I can certainly get the answer for you.

Will check back late morning....10ish.

Bob, I have a question. Who would I contact to complain about a service officer ? I have got great service the first two times better than great!! The last time the new service officer asked if I was a Member of DAV ?? I thought this was weird. The agent told me a claim for PTSD is impossible to prove.
I was told to file a claim by the Dr.s at Hines Hospital in Chicago. I called the other day and the operator said I would only have the same agent. I asked for one of the two other agents but that didn't happen. I did tell the guy I was a life time member but nothing.

Sorry about being so long Wayne

Gracies Mom I'm sorry for butting in on your post. I just wanted to ask Bob my question

First off it's not difficult to file a claim for PTSD, you just need the required documentation required by the VA. It may be difficult if the required info wasn't properly documented, but certainly not impossible.
If the complaint is against a DAV NSO, call DAV Headquarters at 202 554-3501 and speak to anyone in the National Service Office. They'll be glad to assist and will appreciate your call.

Thanks for your reply Bob
I will call headquaters Monday. I was just mad that. This is the third rep in three claims just wish they would give me one rep. Well I guess there's a reason for everything.
I went to a Vet Center on Monday and the counselor knew the guy.

Thanks for your Help & Listening
Wayne

I was the Supervisor of the Chicago office from 1993 to 1998. Any chance you were in the area then or stopped by? Oh well, you probably should talk to Garry Augustine at HQ. He's the Deputy National Service Director and a fair guy. He'll listen to what you have to say.

Bob , I went to the local Vet Center for the PTSD meetings as requested by the hospital . Well I aired my complaint about the DAV's rep. Tuesday they called and asked me to come down. I jumped in the car and drove down. The guy was as nice as pie. I guess me got a call from the vet center because I was called late on in the day by the vet center to see how things went. I wished that I would have filed in Oct. when I was told to ,but discouraged by the rep. Well that's life.
O'Ya I didn't go down to the Dav until 2005. I was always active in VVA and the Chicago Parade in 86 or when ever it was .
Thanks Again Wayne

Wayne,
It is indeed unfortunate that you did not file, even if it would have been a PITA. The disability pay is retroactive from the date of file. Good luck.

Glad everything worked out Yogi. If you need anything from me, let me know. Good luck on your claim and be patient...it'll take awhile. Hopefully they'll get it right the first time.

Thanks Bob

I know these things take some time. The first claim was 6 months but that ain't too bad I have heard a lot worse stories.

HA I'm on top of the world today as I walked out of a stress test. I think the pre-worrying is the worst part. Well I just signed up for the Rally in Ohio. Hope to see some Verterans there.
