It does indeed, Dirk, We're very fortunate in Anacortes to have at least four nesting pairs of bald eagles within a half mile of the house. We see them hunting frequently, mainly grabbing the young rabbits that infest the neighborhood.
Off to the east of town, near the tribal Casino there's a wooded area that is home to about 200 blue herons (according to the local "twitchers") and maybe 60 or so eagles.
In the winter the Skagit River valley, about 50 miles upstream from Mount Vernon gets several hundreds of migrating bald eagles down from Alaska.
