Audie Murphy
Came across this on the 'net. A true hero, one of our finest.

Was not a bad actor either. I've enjoyed many of his movies some were a little 'hickey' but most were pretty good.
The hero label is well founded he was a credit to mankind.

To Hell and Back, one of my favorites. He died at 48 in a plane crash, if my memory is still intact.
Buried at Arlington, always go to his gravesite when visiting.
Audie Murphy Museum, I believe off I-20 northeast Texas.

When playing soldiers as kids, there was always an argument about who gets to be Audie Murphy !! He was most every kid's hero back in the 40's & 50's

A true hero in the real sense of the word hero. Not the same definition by todays standards.

Thanks for posting Dirk. Look up his Biograph on Google...amazing feats for a teenager and early 20's.

and 60s!
Audie enlisted as a private and died as a Major, not too bad for a 5th grade dropout.
Much more can be read on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audie_Murphy
