Camping Discounts for Veterans and US Military

Oregon State Parks offers Special Access Pass for Veterans with Disabilities & Refunds for Active Duty Military On Leave.
They offer 10 days a month free camping and free parking at day-use fee parks to U.S. veterans with any level of service-connected disability.
All requests for State Parks Special Access Pass and Refunds must me processed thru the mail.
More info: Oregon State Parks and Recreation Department: Special Access Pass for Veterans with Disabilities Refunds for Active Duty Military On Leave
I used my Special Access Pass (card) at Collier Memorial State Park (near Crater Lake) for 5 days and it was great.

We will use these!

Thanks for the info. We have the Discover pass but that does not give you free camping. We live in Washington and will apply for the Lifetime Disabled Vet pass since my husband has military ID for his 100% service connected disabilities.

There are many states that recognize disabled veterans with similar offers. Hopefully this will evolve into a complete listing of those states.
Thanks for beginning this thread.

But, you need to be a resident of Washington.

Yes that's correct I called today hoping you could just register with Wa. for non-residents but no.
Also in Oregon there is a small $8.00 reservation fee.
Just a little off topic don't forget you National Park pass which covers every thing else. even just driving through

Not sure this is 100% on topic. We stay at Corp of Engineers camp grounds. There are lots of them here in the Indian Territories (Oklahoma) and across the nation. I'm a disabled vet with an Access Pass & that gets me 50% off of any camping fees.

Some of these camp grounds are FREE to use during the winter or off season months. There is a book you can buy called "Camping with the Corp of Engineers" that lists all of the camp grounds by state, gives the GPS, and phone numbers. Think I bought it at camping world. Here in Oklahoma I use the website recreation.gov to search for and reserve a spot.

The website below lists states and their associated discounts. In addition to the Corps of Engineers and Oregon offering significant discounts to out of state veterans with disabilities, Louisiana honors the America the Beautiful pass. Florida (https://www.floridastateparks.org/co...ntsforveterans)offers a pass to exempt admission fees to most state parks, but not camping fees. Texas (Park Passes — Texas Parks & Wildlife Department)also offers a card that gives some discount to their parks, entrance only it looks like. Many more, but only for residents of the state.

This was a great find during a recent PCS across the country:

All of the places we stayed had great staff. Highly recommended.
