Documentation ?
My DW served in the Army back in the 60's. She did not retire, but was honorably discharged. If we wished to stay at military campgrounds, what type of documentation would we need?. Just curious.

must be retired military or dod or 100% service connected disabled that being said thank you for her service and she is elegible for va medical benifits now and disabilty pay if service connected issues manifest themselves .ie if she spent 1 day in viet nam and is diabetic she would automatically qualify for a disability benifit (read monthly allowance)
if she has questions there is a veteran issues forum on this board or pm me i am involved with DAV and can send you to the right place

Hi thcruiser,
Just read your answer to StStg1. I did serve in Veit Nam was exposed to agent orange and now applying for VA benefits. Is it also based on your income and assets?

My DW has no disability (except for me) or Viet Nam service but receives VA benefits. She got in the system when they were actively seeking female vets a few years ago. She has to pay a minimal amount for a visit and for prescriptions where I, with 40% disability get free treatment and have to pay for non-service connected prescriptions also. It is one heck of a deal! She should look into it, although I don't know if they are still recruiting female vets. (It apparently changes based on their funding but once you're in you stay in). It doesn't hurt to ask, they can holler but they can't hit.

No, it is not based on income/assets.
There is an extensive thread "Agent Orange Presumtive Disease"with good links here on this Forum.

One more question pls.....
Willa's former husband was 100% disabled from the Marine Corp. He was killed in a motor cycle accident in 02. Would Willa qualify for entrance to military campgrounds because of her marriage to him. Understand that we are married now and I am a vet but I only spent four years in the Navy.
I am just curious about this. Willa still has all his Military ID cards also.
any info would be appreciated ....

Seajay,
Had she not married you she would have been entitled to his benefits as a widow. However, because she remarried she is no longer eligible (as far as I know) Her ID Card will have an expiration date on the back. Although his ID was indefinite, no one except him could use it.

Tks Marine. It was more a ''curiosity'' than anything. And yes, she has suffered a lot of limitations and disappointments because she married me. (or that is what she says....lol...) Things like having to spend the winter in Florida and being dragged off to Alaska for four months at a time and being forced to see all the states except Hawaii, and carried kicking and screaming on a 14 day cruise on the inside passage back to Alaska and then a couple of Carib. cruises and stuff like that. And I wont even mention the Red Luxxor convertible she is forced to drive all the way to the grocery store for groceries. Yeppers ,,,,,,,,,, My Willa has a tough life.......lol.....(cough cough)
Again, Tks for the info Marine and thank you for your service to my country.

SeaJay, many Military base commanders allow a qualifying service member to bring along a guest to their RV park. You may read the qualifications for each base here: U.S. Military Recreation Facilities
Click on a state to view facilities and read restrictions/qualifications.
P.S. You might wanta ease up on Wayne a bit_.
