Don't give up!

Today a good friend called me and informed me that he had finally been approved for VA compensation. He was awarded 50% disability. He has been fighting for compensation off and on for 11 years. Approx a year ago, he began another attempt and after finally reaching folks who actually cared, and many meetings and examinations, he was approved. So he is going to receive a years worth of back pay, and 50% disability.

My message is, don't give up. If you have a valid claim. Keep pursuing the requests with the VA. If you give up, then you have no chance at all. If you continue to pursue different avenues, you do have a chance.

+1.

The Admin side of the VA is plagued by inertia. It took 19 years for them to finally service connect me for a permanent knee injury sustained in SERE prison camp even though the squadron flight surgeon attended me and it was amply documented in my medical records at the time(damn near permanently removed me from flight status).

Takes awhile, but eventually you can wear them down.
