I think a lot of people would feel better if the Enola Gay had been sent to destroy military targets rather than incinerating civilians.

This is a must see if you are in the area.
B-52B #0013 is on display there. This B-52B was never assigned to SAC, but is credited with dropping 84+ nuclear/hydrogen shapes and bombs including the last nuclear bomb exploded in the atmosphere. #013 participated in all nuclear test from Red Wing in 1958 through Dominic in 1962.
<https://archive.org/details/OperationDOMINICNuclearTests1962> The largest bomb dropped by #013 had a nominal yield of 9 MT.

They were "willing to die" for the Emperor AND they started the whole mess with Pearl Harbor! Guess who works at military installations in the homeland.... civilians.

DirtRider ... I forgot about the very first post that started this thread .. now I understand your tongue in cheek reference to a racing Cessna.. your second post explained your position better than your first I agree the Enola Gay dropped a horrific nuclear bomb. In this politically correct world we live in maybe the civil war statue pullers will demanded that we destroy a piece of history.

None of those are good reasons for killing tens of thousands of non combatant women and children. Or for doing it twice.
