We are in site #30. Come by and visit, or leave a note if we are not there. Always there in the evenings. Will be here until Thursday, 6th of November.

The new bridge is built to get to the CG. No more worry about the road flooding. The bridge is immediately after the elementary school if you have been this way before.

This is a very nicely maintained RV camp. Long pull through sites, FHU, 24 hour laundry facility, and very convenient to just about everything. No swimming pool at the CG, but I'd bet there is one somewhere on-base if you were so inclined.

There is a major reconstruction of roads on-base, so maneuvering around is not a good option. Try and come in the prescribed way, via Nursery Road, just past the National Cemetary.

The Fort Sam FamCamp is truly a first class facility. Thanks for the update on the new bridge, it was a work in progress when we were last there.

Robert,
If you plan on staying here, call and get reservations. Right now there are sites open, but as the colder weather hits the Northern states, more retirees flock down here. The max stay is 30 days with one week out before returning.

We haven't been to Fort Sam since the bridge went in, but I kinda liked the detour through the back gate. Just down the street and turn left and you're there. I don't believe that gate is open though except as a detour.

If you are referring to the gate that the RV Camp is on, Petroleum Rd, no, it is closed except for special situations. Closest gate is on Nursery Road off of Winan.

Last time we were there- Mar 08, the Woman who manages the famcamp said the Army was going to make this gate(Petro road) a permanent entrance at some future time. Not yet it appears.
