Ft. Hood FamCamp

We are going to Killeen, TX. the end of this month to watch our grandson play in a state golf tournament. We will be arriving on the 28th. What is the FamCamp like and what are the chances of getting a site for the time we will be there since they do not take reservations? Any information will be greatly appreciated.

It's been several years since I stayed at the FamCamp there - last time it was limited to active duty because of the overseas activities. My brother is USA retired and he would always get me a spot there when we visited. There is a small city campground in Copperas Cove that has water, septic & electric. The city campground may bit muddy if it has rained.

Jdoc, I have never stayed at the Ft Hood Campground but have spent some time there. Ft Hood has two campgrounds, one off of Highway 190 at the entrance for West Ft Hood and the second at the Belton Lake Outdoor Rec Area (BLORA). The West Ft Hood is not as isolated as BLORA, but BLORA is on a lake. For more info about Military Camps I would recommend this web site U.S. Military Recreation Facilities. It can provide camp info to include phone numbers. Enjoy your stay.
