Cool ! Another Huey crew chief ! My bird was 72-20251, the first entry in its historical record was something like "Major significant damage from landmine suffered in rice patty". This, of course, was in Vietnam.

The old bird was repaired and is probably still flying in some Third World nation somewhere....

Served in the Active Army from 1986-1989, right between 'Nam and Desert Storm, with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) from Ft. Campbell, KY....HOOO-RAH !

Any other veterans out there ??

U.S. Navy from 58 to 62. I was in Communications on the Uss North Hampton CLC1. Peace time Sailor and I really admire you combat vets from Nam and other Stick Fights they would not let you guys win. I was second generation Navy. My father served in WWII, South Pacific, combat Sailor. He and three other Sailors whipped the whole Japanese Navy one weekend in the rain.

God bless our vets for their service to this great nation.

Hey Thanks again for all the Replys.
Just so you know the VA does work hard on your claims, as last October I Lost my High School B/B. This was a tough loss as we talked every couple days. Ronny was also a Viet Nam vet. Well I was at the VA in December for on going tests form AO. I talked to a rep. from Purple Heart Vet. We filed a claim for Heart Disease (I didn't think any thing would happen) Well his wife will be recieving his Service Connected payment. Ronny's wife will recieve $ 1,100 a month for life. The claim took four months. This has been a life saver for her. I may have lost a Great Friend but helped a Veterans widow.
Hey that's my $ .02

Hi guys, Retired U.S. Navy Chief here who proudly served on the U.S.S Carl Vinson. I was a bad a**, trained in hand-to-hand aircraft maintenance. Bin Laden is lucky I'm no longer on active duty. I'd have smacked him in the nu*s with a crescent wrench and poked him in the eye with a phillips screw driver. I don't really believe he is dead. It's a government conspiracy. I won't believe it until I see the death certificate - the long one.
I'm gonna retire from Boeing sometime this year and become a much of the timer. Or maybe I'll park the RV in my driveway and wait until deisel comes down to 89 cents a gallon. Or better yet, do like Willy Nelson and plant a cash crop, and make biodiesel out of the stalks. I just can't wait to get on the road again. Hope to see you all at some military campgrounds.

Welcome!

I was too young for Vietnam, they ended the draft weeks before my eighteenth birthday. My cousin was a helicopter crew chief in 'Nam, sadly he did not come home.

I joined the Air Force after college, as an enlisted person (staff officers don't get to play with the toys) and I spent nearly ten years in Armed Forces Radio and Television, the rest in Public Affairs. Retired out of Hurlburt Field in 1996.

Now I work on my RV and play with my amateur radios. I'm seeing the country years after I saw the world on Uncle Sam's dime.

Retired Navy Reserve with 4 Yrs active duty. I was old enough for the last year of the draft but lucky enough to not be drafted.
Started as an airdale Plane Captain (Crew Chief for you AF & Army folks). Served on 3 carriers in 3 years as they were working up a new carrier group, the USS Eisenhower and were a little short of personnel to man it right away. Got out, went to college. Starved in a recession(1980/1), so joined the reserves to earn a little extra dough. Stayed there till they forced me to retire in 2002. Saw more of the world in the reserves than I ever did on active duty.
Now if they would just pay us retired reservists our pension when we retire, instead of making us wait till age 60! I know I'll enjoy the retired pay...but, I'd enjoy it more if I was still active and energetic.
I really enjoy ivr2 and the forums here. I've even been in the chat room one late evening.
Does anyone know if there is an on-web location of military CGs? I know the Reserve Almanac lists them but I've found much of the data a bit dated. Thanks and fair winds and following seas to all.
