Exclamation Hulburt Field Family Campground--will it be gone??

Can we Veterans AFFORD to Loose a Military Family Campground?? I say NO, certainly not in these days of tight money. BUT, if we do not band together and make our Voices heard at ALL LEVELS of Government in Okaloosa County Florida, that is just what is going to happen to us.

I challenge all reading this to look into the story behind my post, to get upset with what you learn and then MAKE YOUR VOICE be heard. All Military and Civil Service authorized patrons will be loosing one of the BEST located RV parks on the Gulf Coast if you don't. Here today and gone tommorrow if we don't ACT. Please pass this information on to anyone and everyone that may can helps us save Hulburt Fields current Family Campground.

Sincerely,

Ed Smith

Hi Ed,

I don't know much about the place, never been there, but in the Air Force proposal, it states:

The existing FAMCAMP would be relocated to the southwest of existing
Commando Village along Martin Luther King Boulevard (SR-189)
(Figure ES-5). The proposed FAMCAMP area is approximately 13 acres;
conceptual site development calls for 50 recreational vehicle spaces, a new
bath house, asphalt roadway, stormwater retention, and an access point along SR-189.

So maybe we won't be loosing a FAM Camp, but gaining a new one?

Just my .02

Luck
Bob Smith

Got a listing for or a link to the story behind your post? I haven't yet traveled or camped in the Florida panhandle, but it's on my list of places. Thanks.

All that you say above is TRUE, however, the bids went out, and ALL BIDs that were received were $750,000.00 or more over what had been budgeted for the NEW FAMCAMP. Almost 2 million is in the budget. If just 1/2 of what is in the budget for a NEW campground were spent on the current one, this campground would the best of the best when you do visit. You just need to compare the location and setting of the current FAMCAMP and the same that is being proposed over by Commando Housing. There is NO comparison, none what so ever.
