Today is the 66th anniversary of D-Day, and nary a word about it in the news.

That invasion led to victory by those who served and are still living, those who have passed and those who gave their lives for their country.

Some of us will never forget the sacrifices the Greatest Generation made for the war.

My father landed on Omaha beach on D+1 with the 29th Div. and was awarded his Bronze Star that same day. He came home in one piece and has since passed. May God rest his soul.

Route 66, My dad served with the Royal Canadian Air Force and was stationed in England doing aerial photography analysis work. Indeed this was the greatest generation and yes you are correct I have not heard one word from the News media about D-Day.

it is a pity
our warrior form that time are going fast and somehow they are forgotten.
this last December they even glossed over the attack at pearl.

and have sanitized 9/11 so much that kids don't even believe it happened.

I will continue to salute my fellow veterans that fought to make our land strong and free.

My father served in the Royal Canadian Navy doing a lot of escort work with the shipping convoys in the Atlantic to supply the British navy - some very scary moments especialy at night and more so in the days leading up to D-Day since the U-boat wolf packs new something was up with the increase in Allied shipping - and DriVer your correct - not a word about the anniversary in the news - I hope the next generations do not make the same mistake as the people who supported the axis efforts.

My Dad served in the US Navy and was at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

We are forgetting to honor the memory of those that gave their lives so that we can live in this great country.

The children of today are not taught the history of WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, or any other conflict that the United States has been in, unless it is the present day. It is such a sorrow. The children of today do not even know about the Civil War.

There is so much about the present day news media that is so biased in their reporting. It is very unfortunate for us all.

God bless those that have served in times of stress and battle. And to all that have served everywhere.

The young men of VMI, mostly the same age as the children today that do not know of such things, had a purpose and a dedication to their country and nothing stopped them. Through the Field of the Lost Shoes marched these kids and took the high ground and defeated the Union artillery on those positions. Kids, pursuing duty, honor and country.

I took my grandchildren and nephew to the New Market Battlefield and we marched in the same footsteps all the way up the hill. I gave them a one-on-one education of what it means to be free and the price that is required to be paid for that freedom. I urge all you other grand parents and uncles out there to do the same thing. It might make a difference if not now but at some point they will remember spending a moment with their relative and the time you spent together in a tale of the past which may hopefully shape the future.

AMEN...DITTO..

Wayne.. I am not a history expert but do enjoy reading about it... Texas is currently rewriting history books and many historical events are either being ignored/deleted or rephrased.

My Dad was with the 225th AAA S/L BN on Normandy. He received the Purple Heart for injuries from shrapnel he received during a bombing run on the airfield they were stationed at.
It' s our jobs as parents, grandparents and aunts and uncles to inform the younger generation of the men and woman who gave their all and served to protect freedom.

God Bless all our Veterans

I did see a short blurb (1 minute or less) on Fox news last night.
