Steve was one of the most level headed clear thinkers that I have been privileged to interact with (we never met face to face). Steve and I shared a common outlook and approach to most issues.
Steve could always be counted on as an advisor, sounding board or "proof reader" while in the "final draft" of a decision (once we had decided upon purchase of a new Arctic Fox the plan was sent to Steve for review, and he did find a few flaws but still supported the decision)
When discussing "the Big Picture", Steve "got it".
Steve left the world a better place, He shall be missed.
Fair Winds and Following Seas Major.. I salute you..

The 1st time i met Steve he brought his truck to our campground in Florida in 03 so i could "Tweak" it for him. Installed Guages, Exhaust and a chip for him. When he jumped in after i finished it was like a kid on Christmas morning!! A HUGE grin from ear to ear!!!!
I got to se him again in February of last year and he was the same old Steve. I was on my way to Ft Benning to pick up a FEMA trailer and he invited me to stay overnight. We went to dinner and came back to his place around 8pm. We Bs'ed for HOURS!!! I think it was 1 or 2 in the AM before we called it quits and slept. Got up at 5 am and hauled a trailer from Ft Benning to Beaumont Texas. That was a LOOOONG trip but the lack of sleep was worth it.
Steve was a great man, A great soldier and a great conversationalist. He will be sorely missed...........................

Don't know what to say as Steve's passing has effected me way more than I thought it could have. Going to really miss the good natured banter we had with about the Army Vs Air Force & his perspective on world events.
Halfway down the trail to ****
In a shady meadow green,
Are the souls of all dead troopers camped
Near a good old-time canteen
And this eternal resting place
Is known as Fiddler's Green.
Marching past, straight through to ****,
The infantry are seen,
Accompanied by the Engineers,
Artillery and Marine,
For none but the shades of Cavalrymen
Dismount at Fiddlers' Green.
Though some go curving down the trail
To seek a warmer scene,
No trooper ever gets to ****
Ere he's emptied his canteen,
And so rides back to drink again
With friends at Fiddlers' Green.
And so when man and horse go down
Beneath a saber keen,
Or in a roaring charge or fierce melee
You stop a bullet clean,
And the hostiles come to get your scalp,
Just empty your canteen,
And put your pistol to your head
And go to Fiddlers' Green.
To Absent Comrades
