Thanks for the pay info and advise. I'll check "contributions" to make sure I'm not behind the power curve.

So if we get 13 paydays this year, do we get 11 next year or 12. Anyone heard anything about a raise??

There will be 13 pays this year & 12 pays next year.... here's DFAS' information Pay Schedule

According to MOAA, end of August's COLA stands at 3.6% increase. It all hangs on September's figures....we'll see

Do you actually think we could get a COLA??

It would be nice, but I'm betting even after two years we won't get it. They will freeze the COLA for two more years due to the debt. Would love to be wrong on this.

I did a little research on the subject of Washington blocking our COLA raise. Bottom-line, this is what I've discovered:

Without rewriting the law, the President/Senate/Congresss cannot change the COLA amount, or cancelling it. However, I didn't find anything about postponing it. Anyway, to change the amount or cancel it, would be a blatant violation of law, technically an impeachable offense. I just don’t see this happening, especially with the upcoming elctions. [I'm NOT an attorney, I'm just restating what I've read]

I hope this reassures those who are afraid that somehow the COLA we have been predicting for months would be taken away or somehow evaporate.

I don't remember if we got a COLA last year or not. If we didn't, would that mean we get last year and this year COLA added together?

Bet not.

I believe we have not received one in two years. The formula triggering the increase was not exceeded. Same for SS, I believe.

We have not recieved a COLA in two years. Our retirement and SS are tied together. From what I've been reading, COLA this year could range between 2.5 and 3.5 percent.

But figure this one out. For those drawing SS, there has been no raise in two years, but Medicare costs have gone up. They can't deduct the difference if they don't raise the pay. COLA is not retroactive, but the Medicare increase is, and is cummulative. From what I've read, the increase in Medicare will be more than the COLA, so in effect, they will loose a few dollars.

I'm lucky, I draw both. Should mean that whatever increase I get from the Army should offset what I loose from SS.
