Nellis AFB
Just opened up their new sites, or at least a bunch of them. We had no issues getting a spot tonight. Nice sites, concrete pad with rock in between, good water pressure 30/50 Amp service and sewer. Also - they are pull thrus! Only downside is that they are pretty close to each other. Not going to be putting up anything outside, other than maybe a couple chairs. There is a nice, heavy metal/rubber coated picnic table provided.

Thanks for the update.
We go to Las Vegas to visit our son and Granddaughter but due to the location of the FAM Camp on Nellis it is not convenient for us to stay there. We usually stay at the Oasis RV Resort on the south end of the strip. They accept Passport America.

We stayed at Nellis FamCamp Feb/Mar 2016 and enjoyed it. We stayed on the part that is shaped like a wagon wheel and had a huge lot on the outside of the wheel. We were there during a big exercise (I think it was the Red Flag) and most planes left after dark so ended up having pretty loud nights for a couple of weeks! Enjoyed seeing all the aircraft and the sound of freedom (even though after a week or so it got to be deafening). Also enjoyed watching the Thunderbird's practice.

Called Vegas home for 30 years prior to moving back to Texas 2+ years ago. Stayed at Eagles Nest several times after I retired while in transition while house hunting. Was a nice place to stay even back then, would enjoy being able to go back to visit the new facilities.

So, after taking a walk around the campground - if you can get one of the old sites, they have a lot more room, trees, and "campground" feel. I'm not sure if you can specifically request them, but it's worth a shot. The new side is closer, and while nice, a little tight and more like a parking lot RV resort. Good for probably up to a week stay for us, but not much more. It'll probably be hot in the summer until the newly planted trees grow enough to provide shade. There are a ton of sites tho, and should make availability pretty good.

Just made my reservation for the middle of June. I usually stop there when heading up north. They gave me one of the new ones. Much cheaper than the old ones (20%). I'm only there one night.

Nellis AFB
ALERT: Nellis AFB has 90 PSI in the Fam Camp! It's mentioned in the small print nobody can read... Yes that is NINE ZERO PSI... USE A WATER PRESSURE REGULATOR! ... ask me how I know... [emoji51][emoji106]

Nellis AFB
BTW - not a fan of the "new" sites... Concrete pads are barely wide enough for your RV... Clearly designed and built by non-RV'ers...

Typical of FamCamps. I have found there is a commonality with new famcamps built by all the different services. They seem to use a outdated guide published back in they day.

Yes, it is a disturbing trend.
Fortunately for this trip, I'm just resting for the one night and won't be unhooking. Just need water and electric for the AC. I always use a water pressure regulator and filter.
Better safe than sorry.

It’s good to read they are adding sites rather than deleting them.
