All of the calendars used to show this day.

It is an important day in our history to remember and honor the men and women who served, fought and died this day. In this attack, 2,402 Americans were killed.

It helps me reflect on the 2977 people who lost their lives on 9 11. I refuse to include the 19 cowards who were instrumental in this destruction.

Sometimes I wonder how many Americans still look warily at the Japanese because of these heinous acts some 70 years ago, and wonder how long I will feel the same about, well, nevermind.

Proud to have served.

I've received a couple of Pearl Harbor slide shows but can't seem to get the actual file name off the slide shows. If you want to see them you can send me a PM with your email I'll forward them. (One of you younger & smarter guys can probably figure out how to post them)

PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii — About 120 survivors of the Pearl Harbor bombing commemorated the Japanese attack and the thousands who lost their lives that day 70 years ago by observing a moment of silence today.During the ceremony, a group of survivors of the Dec. 7, 1941, attack announced that they would disband at the end of the month. William Muehleib, president of the Pearl Harbors Association, cited age and poor health of the remaining members.

My Dad was stationed at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. He was on a destroyer escort (DD391 sub chaser) that had just come in from patrol on the evening of December 6, 1941 and put to sea on the 7th with limited stores. even with his description of what went on that day, I cannot imagine what the people there experienced. There is a Power Point presentation on the history of the ship that was put together to honor the ones that served. I can send anyone interested a copy of it.

Future generations cannot forget what all the brave people in the military have done for America.

A 89 yr. old survivor was on the news today, and a reporter was asking questions. The man said he could see that day in his mind just as clearly as if it were yesterday. His ship was hit by a kamikaze plane carrying a 500# bomb. The Captain gave orders to abandon ship, but he and many others refused, and stayed to fight the raging fires because there were men trapped below decks. He was 19 at the time.

"I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve". Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto after the attack on Pearl Harbor.

At 89 he is one of the youngest veterans of that attack. Hard to believe it was that long ago. Yamamoto had no idea of the truth of his statement.

This quote came from the movie Tora, Tora, Tora and though attributed to Yamamoto, he didn't utter it. He probably "thought it" as he had attended Harvard for several years and was fully aware of the US peoples resolve and their capabilities

My father was a Naval corpsman at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked. In his later years he became a Roman Catholic deacon. The parish priest at his first assignment was Japanese descent. Pop had a lot of anguish before he was finally able to work through his feelings and work with this priest.

Makes me wish we Americans would awaken again.

I am made to understand that the Islamic Terrorists and Mexican Drug Lords call us "the Sleeping Dog."

Type it in any search engine and read the results, I say no more.

Lest we forget ...... "Remember Pearl Harbor!"

Sadly, I think we forgot ... September 11, 2001.

Let's hope and pray that will have the readiness and the resolve to defeat any enemy before he strikes the blow. We are the United States and we will always be the focus of many to inflict harm on this Great Nation.

God Bless all who have died and served this country and who today are in harms way.

##

I saw something on the evening news that made me flash back. During the Battle of the Bulge quite a few of the combatants were non-combatants like typists and clerks. Currently leaving Iraq and taking up weapons to the fight, you got it, typists and clerks. Looks like the Infantry went home already. As it was then and is today ... "You're in the Army Now!" I wish them all a speedy trip home and that all will be well.

There are still Infantry and other combat arms types over there. But just because someone doesn't have a combat arms MOS doesn't mean that they could not have been outside the wire. In Iraq we even had airmen and airwomen driving in convoys.
