Welcome SeaBee!! Retired Navy, Nuclear Submarine Repair, 1965-1986.
Worked with the "8th Wonder of the World", MCB8 in Danang, Vietnam, hill 327 near Dogpatch, in 1966 for 9 months as a steelworker (Welder). Did everything from maintaining the pontoon ferries or repairing the blown up bridges to building swings and slides for the kids at the local school! One of the best job I had in 22 years, considering the location. Great guys!!
As said before, to you SeaBee and the rest of ya all, THANK YOU!!
David

Retired YNC, 11 active 11 reserve. Former ADR2, active, till they found out I could type. Westpac 1955/56, VA196, USS Lexington: NAS New Orleans; Naval Investigative Activity, Keflavik (great duty, unlimited gate exit/entry, civilian clothes, diplomatic plates on our cars, no gate inspection for the cigs and booze we always took to town.) Wish I could have stayed for 4 years; Intelligence Section, Flag Allowance Seventh Fleet Staff in USS Providence; Naval Communications Station, San Fran (Stockton) and finally USS Fechteler DD870 and out May 19, 1969. Never forget it; early out and went to CHP same day. All sorts of reserve units, but the best was Inshore Undersea Warfare Team 419. Lots of non-admistrative fun at Coronado and Long Beach.

Hey Mates
Not retired but served from 63 to 70 on USS Canberra CAG2 or CA70, it was both during those years. Four WEST PAC trips, mostley Gulf Of Tonkin. Not the best duty but we did our part.

Retired June 1999 as an AT1. Started with the A7E Corsair II. AIMD Lemoore. Then did back to back Sea Duty in P3C Orions as an Aircrewman. To me that was not Sea Duty. Then back to Lemoore AIMD. Finished up with An F/A-18 Hornett Squadron. Now work Hornett flight test for a Defense contractor. I retired the way a Sailor should. My retirement ceremony was held on the Hanger deck of the USS Carl Vinson at Sea in the Persian Gulf. Then flew home.
