Thats always true. But sponsoring thru the gate won't get them a site in the RV park.
My experience has been that non-carded folks were only allowed to be sponsored during what park management consider "off Season".
Remember hearing of a retired couple bringing in two rigs. Husband in one, his wife in the other, with non-eligible friends. Advance reservations had been make and they did get checked in, at different times. When host figured out what was being pulled. Both rigs were evicted and there was talk that base privileges were in jeopardy. Just sayin

SMART Questions
Hi to All
Meterguru, I am president of 2 SMART chapters(Rocky Tops & Ohio Valley) To answer you question, we do not, as a group, normally use military RV parks for our musters but if we do, you are normally permitted to stay if you are sponsored by a member who does have an ID card, but many parks do have a time limit for sponsored RVs. We do welcome all Veterans of all branches of service with any type of RV.
Skypilot, liked your edit. Thankfully, we are not all like that. To us, both the journeys & destinations are important. IRV2 have FUN.
Scot Thanks for the heads up

Military RV parks & ID cards
Sky, my only personal experience was at NAS Pensacola, Blue Angels RV PK. I have sponsored there twice , only limitation was length of stay, normally 4 days. Sponsered was allowed to stay 6 days of our SMART muster (no one was on waiting list ) I'm sure that is not always true at every park

What you described is correct procedure, because it was not someone being sponsored, it was deception.
Each military installation commander set the rules for use of MWR facilities, there is no world-wide policy or rule.

And, their annual dues are higher than all the civilian oriented RV clubs. I was a member back in the 90s until they had a power struggle which resulted in their headquarters being relocated. I just don't need all that political BS.

Not a member. Live near Nellis AFB, NV
When alert status is raised the BRAVO, everyone entering must have a valid ID. AD, Ret. Dod, etc.,. Being a vet will not get you in the gate.
