I am a 100% DAV, under the age of 47.....nobody and I mean nobody will insure me with medical insurance.
as for new life insurance policies.......forget it. even my knights wouldn't touch me glad i thought ahead

i write at least once a week. all tell me that my tricare prime is SAFE and to keep using my VA as secondary insurance

had a pricey surgery in June
hospital stay was billed over 52k
tricare paid less than 5k

Powerboatr, I am familiar with the costs but left Active Duty without any permanent disabilities.

Sometimes I have a little back pain from a service related injury, no big thing.

I had two weenie chest pains, and received two cardiac stents for opening my mouth. They were billed at $54K each (honestly tho, my part was around $200 for each, which doesn't break the bank) and now a torn meniscus from last summer that hasn't been fixed yet. It proves 62 y.o. slightly overweight men shouldn't jump down from a lowboy trailer like a 19 y.o.

My big fear is that our government has instituted a different way to reduce our benefits. They say, "You are covered by retiree benefits," which is a truthful lie, but they have reduced hospital and physician REIMBURSEMENT to such a pitiful amount that no self-respecting doctor wants to see us! It is a waste of their time/money!
