Roy was a great guy who spent many of his last years visiting the local Reserve and National Guard centers around Texas. Many young Airborne and Ranger soldiers listened and learned thorugh his soft voice and encouraging words.

There is an informal (very informal) gathering place where friends share stories of him in San Antonio. The Drop Zone is a small hamburger joint outside the I-35 gate of Ft. Sam Houston owned by a retired CSM that is filled with pictures from all over the world, a bust of MSG Roy B, and many others from the airborne and SOF community.

He was a helluva guy and I am proud to say I knew him once upon a time.
