I have been using my Disabeld Vet card with no problem. My Texas license is up for renewal this summer so I will have that added.
Thanks for the info.

Texas also has a "Military Merit" license plate program. Holders of several military awards, such as the Legion of Merit, Silver Star, etc. are issued free license plates upon application and proof of the award. You are allowed two such plates if you hold two qualifying awards. These plates are free for life. There are also Purple Heart and DV plate (must be at least 50% disabled for the DV plate) issued for only $5 registration fee per year. I have three vehicles registered in Texas for a total annual fee of $5. Also, if you are 60% disabled or more, you get free hunting and fishing license and free entry to all state parks and your driver's license is free. 60% also gets you two free blue handicap cards for use in disabled parking spaces. Don't forget also that disabled veterans receive property tax exemptions, the amount depending on your level of disability. 100% disabled veterans now are totally exempt from property taxes on their homestead. Texas is a great state for Veterans.

Had to renew my license in November 2011 and asked about the veteran endorsement. They were not ready yet. Today went to license office in Taylor and they looked at my DD214 and signed me up. Two weeks and I will have something convenient to show to Lowes and Home Depot. Cost me an extra $11.00 to get new license. They did not agree with me that it should be no cost since it was not my fault that I could not get it in November.

Now I will be able to legally drive a motorcycle or show that I have driven a drill sergeant crazy

Good for Texans but Georgia has them beat.

In Georgia if you are a Vet you can take your DD214 to the DMV and they will issue you a free Drivers License marked Veteran.
