H.R. 2201 would automatically concede Agent Orange exposure for all veterans who served at military installations in Thailand during the Vietnam Era, regardless of the base, duty on the perimeter or military occupational specialty. As a result, the presumptive diseases currently associated with Agent Orange exposure would be applicable to all veterans who served at military installations in Thailand during the Vietnam Era.

Security Police who served in Thailand already qualify for Agent Orange exposure. It's about time they included the rest of us who served in Thailand. Was there from '71 to '75. With a 6 months stateside break in winter of 73-74.

SP, korat ‘74-‘75, and i think its unreasonable and shameful that coverage hasn’t yet been granted to others; hopefully this will be corrected while it still matters.

My brother who was in the Air Force was sent to Thailand to load planes with Agent Orange. Nothing in his military records show that he was ever there!
Needless to say, he is having trouble applying for Agent Orange benefits due to health issues associated with AO.
Any veteran out there having any luck with the same problem?

If he was sent to Thailand on a temporary assignment(TDY) he may not qualify for any treatment. Possibly A copy of a airman performance report (APR) may state he was in Thailand temporarily. If he was there on permanent orders he could use his APR as proof he was in Thailand. Hope this info helps him out.

My brother was stationed temporary at the Royal Air Force Base in Thailand. No body was suppose to know US personnel were in Thailand during the Vietnam
war! So nothing on his APR.

They were sending guys into Laos in 1961 from Okinawa.....on the hush-hush...

Lots and lots of US personnel were in Thailand during the Vietnam War and there were lots and lots of them were on Royal Thai bases, as there were no US Air Force bases.

US bases exist only on US Soil; the 50 states and territories of the US (Guam, Puerto Rico, etc.). All US basing in foriegn countries are on foreign bases. Mildenhall, Ramstein, Sig, Duci, Al Udied, Bagram, Ali, Jabar -- all foreign bases with US tenants.

If you want to prove you were TDY someplace, a paid travel voucher is absolute proof.

Early on 1961/62 some of us were sent to Thailand and Vietnam with US passports the Vietnam visa stamp in the passport is the only real prof I have of being in Vietnam.

I did receive the AFEM for being in a combat area but it does not say where.

Does anyone know if they used agent orange stateside?

I was on a Peninsula in the Chesapeake Bay at a radio transmitter site surrounded by water. I remember they used to spray something all around the shore to kill all the Lilly pads, etc.

That was from 1964 to 1967. We were across the Severn river from the Naval Academy.

For you guys that were at the Naval Academy those big radio towers you saw is where I worked fixing the transmitters.

To those vets who served anywhere over there, Thank You for your service and Welcome Home.

I was at NKP way up north in Thailand along the Laos border (with short trips into Laos and Cambodia that we shall never speak of again). I'm not sure what I am supposed to look for as far as symptoms of exposure. And even if I could define them, my current and provable limitations get me next to nothing from the VA.

I'm financially solid, so for me it is only the principle, but to many among us the meager compensation from the VA means the difference between struggling and just getting by.

Hope we don't continue to add to the insults we all endured from an unappreciative public by not honoring claims by deserving folks just because they can't provide a 50 year old piece of paper that proves they were exposed.

The diseases now on the VA's Agent Orange list are ischemic heart disease, lung and trachea cancers, prostate cancer, multiple myeloma, Hodgkin's disease, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, Parkinson's Disease, type 2 diabetes, peripheral neuropathy, AL amyloidosis, chronic B-cell leukemia, chloracne, early-onset peripheral.
However check with VA yourself as it may have changed. Last I checked there were 14 on list.
