Thank you for serveing your country. Applebees and Golden Corral are giving free meals to vets. Must show proof of service.

Also send these companies a short letter of appreciation.

I'm going to Applebee's for lunch. I brought my DD214 last year however they didn't want to see it. It took me longer to find my DD214 than it did to drive to the restaurant, have lunch go shopping and come home! Now when I need a copy I've saved it as a PDF just for this type of occasion!

We were traveling on veterans day and decided to overnight in Yuma, AZ. My wife looked at the trailer life directory and suggested staying at the Shangri Law (Sp?) RV Resort.

When checking in the lady asked if I was a veteran and I said Yes, I think four and half years in the Marine Corps does make me a vet. She said the owner was giving free space that night to any veteran. That is certainly a difference response from what we used to get in the mid 1960's when I got out of the service. If/when I go back through Yuma and overnight at an RV park you won't need to guess which one I'll choose. I hope some of you also stay there and thank them for honoring us veterans with a free night on Veterans day.

Isn't that the truth, my husband went through Flagstaff, AZ when he was active duty with others and tried to eat at a restaurant. They wouldn't serve them, they were kicked out. I am trying to remember the time frame, must have been late 80's early 90's before Iraq invaded Kuwaitt.

To this day he will never give that town the time of day....
