Welcome home Brother! I was told not to wear my uniform home, felt like I was sneaking back home.

I was in the AF from '66-71 I was a flight instructor so I was stationed state side. But I did feel your sentiment, although I was never spit on.
Thanks for your service in 'Nam.

Came home in December of `70. Stopped over at SETAC where they tried to get me to reup. Considering they had already extended my time in service "at the convenience of the government", I just laughed.

Spent my time in Vietnam as a weapons and munitions specialist (aka highly-trained BB stacker). My attitude had changed from when I volunteered.

I was SO happy to see the way our troops were treated on their return from Iraq and Afghanistan. So different. Made me proud of my fellow citizens. Used to have crowds of folks lining the walkways at DFW airport waving and clapping. Being in the middle of one of those crowds brought me to tears.

Welcome home brothers and sisters. I do wish now that I had saved at least one uniform. The grandchildren would get a kick out of it.
