Military.com today ran an article that should interest everyone. The administration and Gates are toying with the idea of cutting military pay. Such a deal, Huh?

Let's see... I got $80 a month when I was in from 1963 to 1967. How much are they paying now?

Things have changed a bit since then Arch, no more 15 cent hair cuts, no more 25 cent drinks at the clubs, gas is no longer 7 cents a gallon. I went in in 1959 and started out with less than you.
What branch were you in?

I started at around $70 a month. Twenty three years later with inflation it seemed like it never went up.

How is this going to affect retired pay?

@Finhawk Navy ETN2.

I don't think a pay cut will fly. They're just trying to stir up the natives.

Ain't that a kick in the pants. They have the gall to considering cutting military pay but won't cut their own. How about that.

None of us have gotten a cost of living since Obama took office, but I'll bet that he and congress went right on collecting their pay raises. Congress actually has to vote to not get a pay raise. That way each member can all claim it wasn't their doing.

Automatic Raise

Not sure where the OP got his Info; but the presidents budget calls for a modest 1.6% pay INCREASE.
Not a cut in pay as noted.
Military Pay and Allowance - Military Benefits - Military.com

Not sure of the intention of the info from the OP.
But if you're going to make a statement about the CinC; You ought to make sure you got the facts straight.
