here is my 2 cents. VA Disability and SSD are separate. One doesn't determine the outcome on the other. You can Collect Both. I am 100% VA disabled which took 2 yrs to approve.(fast from what I understand). I was collecting SS Disability prior. I hired a SS lawyer and was approved the first time. You must be out of work for a least 1yr before applying. SSD is usually less then your regular retirement. hope this helps

100% disabled children and spouse receive education benefits. Spouse also gets medical through CHAMP VA. If you file within a certain period you can be reimbersied your spouse medical expenses from your origin date of disibility
