VA in/near Texarkana, TX

I have a disabled veteran friend who is thinking of moving to Texarkana, TX. She currently lives in the SW corner of Texas and likes the VA there. I know the service can be different in other VA systems, so told her I would check to see if anyone lives in the area and knows what the VA system is like there.

Any opinions and info would be appreciated.

Thank you

rvgrandma, the only thing in Texarkana is a clinic and it is on the Arkansas side of the city. There is a hospital in the DFW area and one in Little Rock. I have not been to any of these so, can't tell you about the care given there. Just know what is there.

Jerry, I thought there used to be a VA hospital in Bonham, TX - it was placed there because it was the hometown of the former Speaker of the House, Sam Rayburn. Did it close down?

I am pretty sure the VA Hospital is still operating in Bonham.

Bonham isn't really a hospital. No overnight or ER facilities. Eye Dr. Skin & Hearing. No MRI, or Cat Scan. They do have a pharmacy and Lab. Anything else gets sent to Dallas VA.

Dallas, VA is a Zoo. To many patients but the Staff tries hard to take care of everyone.

I go to the Dallas VA all the time. It is a very busy hospital, but I think that they do an excelent job!
