veteran license plates?

I'm curious if anyone else here has veteran license plates on their RV / non-RV vehicles. (I have them on our RV and my Yukon.)

I have a Vietnam veteran license plate on my truck. I think it was an honor to serve and I am glad I did.

CA does issue plates for Purple Heart, POW, Gold Star Family, etc.;
https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/?1...ialrecogplates
Those are for very special individuals who have earned it.

BUT the most common "Honoring Veterans" plates are simply a money maker for the states "approved" programs, with the proceeds going to "expand veteran services statewide." I was never able to determine what that means

We had one of the very earliest styles that at the bottom simply read "VETERAN." A short time later, they changed that to "Supporting Veterans."

With the change on the plate print and discovery of the money trail, we did not seek a new one with the new truck and the RV.

Instead, we contribute directly to charitable veterans groups.

Having been blown up by terrorists once (Kobar Towers Saudi Arabia), and having spent a lot of years in foreign countires, I tend to be a little overly cautious, and try not to stand out as military. I tend to stay very aware of my surroundings, don't wear or display things that identify me as associated with the military.

MA has them, but they cost more than regular plates. Go figure.

Minnesota doesn't allow on RV. I have them on my pickup.

Had a guy on a motorcycle pull up once on a freeway on the drivers side and salute me and they pull away once.

I have "Veteran" tags with the Air Force Seal on MH and on my truck. My Focus has "Retired" and has an Air Force Seal. One Veteran and the Retired didn't cost me anything and doesn't cost anything to renew every year. The other Veteran was $25 and costs $20 each year to renew.

It's a great deal.

i got my plates as a means of getting a bit of skate room / leeway should i ever need it.

attitudes towards GIís / vets have changed so much since i was in that iím glad to have an extra bit of consideration if / when possible ... like the home depot / lowes 10% vet discount - iíll take it.

I have "Retired Air Force" plates on my RV and my Jeep. Have Vietnam Vet on my Saturn and the end of the plate number is XVC. All were at no extra cost here in Ohio. BTW the lady at the licensing office freaked when the XVC came up and offered a different number but I said all the USAF Sorties I was associated with took out more VC than the number before the XVC on my license plate so I kept it. Have never been asked why I have XVC on my license plate.

You served for you can display those things. To not is to give in,
. Military plates can get you out of tickets.
