I was stationed on Guam and volunteered in the food lines to feed 50,000 refugees that transited Anderson AFB during the days of the final evacuation. Awarded the Humanitarian Service Medal for my efforts.

Thanks Phil -- remember all the events leading up to and the evacuation of Saigon. Stationed at Clark AB and directly participated in all phases of our withdrawal from Vietnam.

Yep, I do remember. 69-70, 221st Avn Co, fixed wing. I couldn't even legally buy a beer prior to my arrival in vietnam in 69.

Hello Floks
I, too, remember the last day. I was flying at 35,000 feet in an RC-135 listening to the chaos. Was an airborne Chinese Linguist. The radios were clogged with conversations about evacs, attacking Saigon, planning for convoys, etc. Quite the scene. I actually went home one month later, May 75.

I served in Vietnam, Phouc Vinh, in 67-68, with the 101st Abn. Exciting times those day! Ended up in a Navy "C" School as an HM3 Psych Tech at Philadelphia. Got to treat all those war damaged Marines in the day. My only response was to that day was, "After all we have done how can this happen" and it happened. Dreamed a bit and all of us returnee's had a sense of confusion, you see we do not lose!
