Already had put my US Army time in (luckily, missed a SE Asia tour) working at my machinist day job but going to college nights under the GI Bill so I could sit behind a desk and design parts for my to be previous day job.

50 years ago? I was enjoying my first summer break from Elementary School! Probably down at the creek catching crawdads and minnows, or going over to my Granddad's or Greatgranddad's place to go fishing! Not a care in the whole world back then!

Crawdad catching with bacon in the ditches of Irving Texas. Or maybe bike riding around town all day. Only time I ever came home for a minute was to get an ice cold haha drink of water out of the water hose out front.

I was at AIT training at Fort Eustis, VA in Chinook Helicopter Repairman School. In October I was in Vung Tau, VN where I volunteered to be a crew chief on a Chinook Helicopter.

I've purposely waited awhile to post this.
Fifty years ago today, 19 July 1968, I was being sworn in and heading to Basic Training at Amarillo AFB, Tx to begin my 20 year career in the U. S. Air Force.
Hardly seems like a half century ago.

Hey there, I went through Rotary Wing Repairman School at Fort Eustis in 1965 and went to Vung Tau in July 65. 330th
Trans.

50 years ago I was in initial training to become an Air Traffic Controller at Washington Air Traffic Control Center. I spent 20 years as a journeyman and 12 more as a Supervisor. Retired in 2000. Loved that job, didn't like the politics.

VietNam - Tet Offensive and working our way to liberate Caison.
That was my wedding present from the US Army as I had just returned from leave.

Just celebrated 50 years, 2 months and 10 days of wedded bliss with my BFF. God has been so good.
