Good to see a fellow loader, even if you did crosstrain out.

Military Service

US Navy from 1981 to 1989. Stationed in Holy Loch Scotland in 1981 then went to Charleston SC for a refit on USS Holland AS 32. After this I went to the USS Sylvania AFS-2 until 1986, next duty was at NTTC Corry Station Pensacola Fl. until I got out in late 1989.

After my navy service I went to work for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction until Sept 1, 2018 when I retired as a Lieutenant.
I was in the military or civil service from 1981 until Sept 2018 total.
My wife is a Special Education teacher and is going to retire next June 1 with 22 years. After this we plan on hitting the road to see this beautiful land we call home.

After living in Scotland, 2 Med cruises (Beirut Oct 1983) (summer of 1985) , 3 Caribbean's and 3 trips to Gitmo I want to see as much of home as possible now.

hamm2018, it's nice to hear from a fellow squid. I loved Scotland, lived in Dunoon on the shore road to Sand bank for 33 months. Been back and going again soon. My Son is Air Force at Lakenheath, he and my daughter in-law love Scotland too so when we visit, off we go to the Highlands. My wife and I will be doing the same as you taking lots of wonderful trips here at home in our old RV, Our country has so much to offer and we can't wait to see as much as possible while we are able. Thank you for your service.

Scotland

Bounder28T is the base still there or did they close it? Can't remember how many liberty boat rides to get to shore I made? Going to shore for liberty wasn't too bad, it was the ones coming back that would get to you sometimes after a couple of pints!!!!

But I do remember there was a place to get very good fish & chips in town.

My family and I spent 7 years at RAF Lakenheath. Loved visiting Scotland, Ireland, and Wales.

Army for the first 6 then I wised up and thought why sleep in tents when I can sleep in hotels, so the remaining 21 were in the air force.
