3 Dog Night

We have three dogs we take with us traveling in our MH. I am starting to notice that many campgrounds post restrictions to just two. I have not been turned away so far but we have not traveled very much last year. They are not restricted breeds, 1 large and two small. Anybody with three or more dogs have any experiences to share?

Yes, there are many CG's with rules about type, size, and # of dogs allowed.

We travel with 3 Saint Bernards (see our photo on our profile) so except for the breed restrictions we are often excluded...no problem...just call ahead and ask for an exception.

We have only been denied 1 time. And that was a state park where the agent did not want to ask the camp host for an exception. Once we arrived (yes, we went there anyway) the camp host was more than accepting.

The key is to NOT BE "THAT RV'er" with the yapping, wandering, aggresive, etc dog(s).

Safe travels

We also have three dogs... well, they are Papillons so not everybody considers them REAL dogs. I usually tell the CG management about them and there has only been one CG in Colorado that was adamant about 2 dogs MAX, we didn't stay there. Like the "no RV over 10 years old" rule, many do not enforce the rules unless you are causing problems...excessively yappy or aggressive dogs, oil dripping MHs, leaving dog poop around, slumming your RV site, etc. Always ask though, we have never had an issue.

"Jeremiah was a bull frog, was a good friend of mine..." Oh...wrong 3 Dog Night. Nope - just one dog in our coach.

(Can't believe I was the first one to comment on that post title...and yup, I helped him drink his wine...)

I know one couple with something like 11 yappy campers (Chihuahuas)

I do feel that is excessive as .. Well i travel with Cats.

By the way, one interesting fact is I find small dogs like the Chihuahua to be far more agessive than the big dogs.. Seems they have to prove they are just as good as say, a Huskey or Malmute.

The big dog,, Acts like my cats, nice and pettable. (This does not mean I do not treat them with respect.. always approach an animal be it dog or cat with caution at least till you know each other)

We traveled with three large dogs for years.

If there was a two dog rule at the park, we called first and asked permission.

One park told us they were breaking the two dog rule just because we called.

We were never turned down in three years and 32 states.

We travel with 5. 2 min Yorkies and 3 min Aussies. Never had any problem. It's a lot of work but wouldn't have it any other way. We purchased a electronic device that puts out an adjustable area that's wireless and keeps our little ones as close as needed.
