This is one of the topics that will generate a lot of heated discussion from the good dog owners and from non-dog owners. You will not hear any of the bad dog owners chiming in and saying that they will let their dogs go any where and never bother to pick up. For the ones that can read, they are sure that no one is talking about them.

YUP - this IS one of those topics that can be counted upon to generate lots of heat - why?
Because there are a significant number of "closet abusers" who see themselves exposed and identified - and become defensive, abusive, and belligerent -
JUST AS they do when confronted in the campgrounds!
But folks, what's being discussed here, is not simply varied *opinions* of different RVers, but rather, pretty flagrant refusal of some to abide by commonly posted and accepted park rules concerning responsible pet control, sanitation, and consideration for other park users. As such, it's a valid subject of discussion - in spite of those choosing/preferring to avoid it!
SURE, there MAY be somewhat fewer in a group like this, where HOPEFULLY folks are more conscientious - but we'd all be fooling ourselves to think
ALL here were really the sort that NEVER fail to walk their dogs on 6 foot leashes where it's required - not only in the more visible areas - but also out in the more secluded park areas where the rule STILL applies. OR, to think that in the darkness and unseen, the little darling's droppings are religiously STILL picked up and disposed of properly - and the males not allowed out on those extended leashes, to pee on other camper's vehicle wheels, their kids toys, and anything else allowed within their reach.
Imagine the hazards of a young family whose toddlers are out playing and crawling in the area around their RV that some other camper's pet used as a toilet the night before...
And no, surely none here would ever, even momentarily allow their pit bull, or similar large aggressive breed to be free as their owners are lounging with them outside their coaches (well after all, it IS still "under our control...")

- and surely none of those "well mannered" pets would then see OUR
properly restrained, helpless small dog over in our campsite, and instantly and uncontrollably rush to our campsite to attack her viciously -
as has happened SEVERAL times!
The list goes on and on - and those NOT described in the MANY complaints in threads like this, have absolutely NOTHING to feel offended or threatened by - it's not YOU being called out or objected to!
BUT, I seriously suspect that the few who do indignantly squeal and howl the loudest when this subject surfaces, do so because they DO see themselves in the descriptions, and feel exposed and attacked - but folks, in those cases, YOU are NOT the "wounded" party -
but those who camp near you, and are then subjected to your lack of responsibility and consideration, ARE!
Those here who actually ARE consistently responsible with their pets. I applaud and commend you - and would welcome you in the campsite next to mine ANY time!
Those others? Well....
