Beloved Pet!

Yesterday was one of the hardest days of our lives!
We had to put our beloved Sara to sleep! She was 18 yrs old,
and starting to fail rapidly! She leaves a big hole in our hearts,
but we know that she had a good life with us. Don't think we'll
ever get another dog. Just so hard to say goodbye!

So sorry for your loss, we lost both of our dogs this year to advanced age diseases and we both said we were not going to get another dog. We recently adopted a little 12 lb. Bundle of joy from a humane society. We just found we missed that unconditional love an animal can give. I know it is hard, it is really loss of a family member.

So sorry for your loss. It is so hard to let go of a loved one. My husband refused to get another dog after we lost our Bear. After awhile he "let" me adopt our Raisin. She is now "his" dog, and we love her as we loved Bear. My husband also brought home a 4 week old kitten that was dumped at a construction site last year. I can't imagine traveling without our furry kids.

Sorry to hear of your loss. It is mighty tough. We can't imagine being without our furbutts but when the time comes we will grieve and move on with new companions. The place will be mighty empty without them.

We went through the same trauma with our 14-year-old female Labrador, Cocoa, just two weeks ago. She had made it to that age - 4 years above the staistical norm for a Lab - despite having suffered from Addison's disease since she was less than a year old.

The end came because she was hardly able to walk due to atrophy of her leg muscles. We had to lift her into the car and even up the two steps from the patio to the dining room. Her daily "walk" was about 200 yards.

We lost her companion, a 12-year old male, almost four years ago, due to esophogeal cancer. She was so bereft, we got a 5-year-old rescue yellow lab (Bailey) to help her over the shock. He's now our only dog and has recently turned 8.

We just did a 6-day trip (Leavenworth, Lake Chelan and Winthrop, in Eastern Washington) with Bailey and he seemed to enjoy visiting new places. He's glad to be home again.

The daytime high of 116 degress on our second day in Leavenworth was a bit of a challenge (and not just for him!).

So sorry for your loss.

We've spent the past two years full timing with our two Westies (4 and 14) and our 13 year old Sheltie. There is a degree of pain just seeing the older two begin to slip but as mentioned above, the unconditional love is hard to give up.

All the best...

Rick

Sorry for your loss. We had the same experience with 17 year old long hair chihuahua (sp). The best for us was going to the pound and saving a dog that helped heal our hearts and filled his with joy. Good luck
