Not really related to the RV but thought I'd ask this question here....
I have built a 15' X 50' fenced exercise area for my dogs (my HOA will not allow fenced yards but did allow me to put this on common ground near my house). It started out with grass but, as expected, turns to dirt soon enough. I have put a load of hardwood mulch in there which helps but that will need constant replenishing to keep the dogs from getting so dirty/muddy. I considered rubber mulch but was concerned the dogs may be inclined to eat/chew that. I've considered pea gravel since I saw that in a dog run on a trip thru NM some time ago.
Any suggestions for a durable ground cover that will last are appreciated.

When I was raising and showing dogs, I had multiple yards, both under cover and open to the air. The ones that were under cover all had pea gravel. The only problem with using pea gravel (or any other cover) is that you will have to sanitize it fairly regularly in order to prevent odor and disease.

Would they try to eat the pea gravel too? Some dogs will chew on anything. The local doggy daycare that's around the corner from us uses k9grass. I looked at the website & it seems to be ideal, although it would be quite expensive for the size of run you have.

Tell me more about sanitizing. Since the gravel would be put over grass/ground and I quickly pick up any deposits, what else would be in order to sanitize the area? Spray the area with a diluted bleach solution perhaps? The dogs don't stay in this area for more than 30" or so at a time. We take them there for romping, then take them back inside or for a walk afterwards.
