I have never heard of a pet fee at camgrounds is this something new.
I wont pay and if it becomes more wide spread I will lie about having a dog.

as a variation on the question - I have two dogs and two cats. I am finding that some states have a limit on the number of pets one can have when camping in the state parks. I wrote to the states of NY and Ohio to see if there was any wiggle room in that because the cats do not come outside. NY never answered. Ohio said I could contact the individual parks to see if they were willing to allow a variation.
And on pet fees - watch out for SD - per pet, per day fees at the National parks out there.

We travel with cats, normally only two, but occasionally four. Last year out west, I was asked if we had any pets, I said four cats. She asked if they were indoor or outdoor. I said indoor only. She said, okay I have two indoor cats. I said, no, four. She pointed to a sign that said maximum of TWO pets , and said again, TWO indoor cats . . . I let it drop!
Never had anyone charge, but there's always a first time.

I always expect to pay a pet fee for the dog, and rightly so. As for the two cats that never go outside, I never discuss them. If someone considers that lying, too bad.

That's because I was on my cell phone and the picture isn't there, had to switch to one of my laptops.
Here's the RV Kitty Kondo we used to have made and ship around the US. It folds to about 3" thick. I cut Lexan to fit the window openings and put a locking cat door in them. I have two, one on each side of the MH.

Why should going outside have anything to do with it?
My dog doesn't go swimming in the pool, doesn't use the shower facilities, doesn't go to rec center, doesn't use play area (even ones for dogs---too much crap) and I have to pay that PET Fee.

Agreed, cg can charge what they want for whatever they decide to add on. I don't agree but that's the way it is. We always note our dog on registration.

While I don't condone lying, even when it seems justified, I do advocate standing up for my rights. When riott2 said "cg can charge what they want for whatever they decide to add on. I don't agree but that's the way it is," that somehow got my back up. Can you imagine a campground charging extra per goldfish? Come on! If we, who provide the campgrounds' with all their income, do and say nothing to object to unfair and unbased pet fees, we're the only ones to blame when those fees are raised and/or others are added at our registration. It's only reasonable, I feel, for cg's to provide electrical hookups for long-term stays at a measured rate. After all, they have to pay the power bill for the whole park. But where is the expense they're offsetting and using to justify charging pet fees, pray tell?

Seven cats in the rig and four being Japanese Bobtails pretty much take care of any bugs that get in.
Actually not many get in through the cat doors so it's not really a problem.
